Process
Application materials are mailed to public schools throughout the Bronx and upper Manhattan in early November. Principals who opt to join our partnership assign a liaison to coordinate the distribution and collection of student applications. Once applications are returned to SOH, a file is created for each applicant and families are contacted about Stage I of the admissions process. Stage I consists of testing, group sessions, and the submission of report cards, writing samples, and recommendations.
A small number of families who complete all of the Stage 1 requirements will move on to the 2nd stage of the process. Those students will be interviewed, along with their parents. Financial data, a copy of the 3rd marking period report card, and an onsite writing sample will be collected and reviewed. Additional documents may be requested.
In May, 36 students from among the finalists will be granted admission to Summer on the Hill. Those students will join current participants for the commencement of the Summer Session in late June.
