Bruce S. Brickman
Principal, Brickman

Mr. Brickman founded Brickman Associates, a national real estate development company, in 1992. Brickman Associates is a fully-integrated real estate company, performing its own construction, management, and leasing.  Brickman Associates is the manager of the four Brickman real estate funds.

A Trustee emeritus of the Horace Mann School, an independent preparatory school in New York City, Mr. Brickman is currently on the Board of Trustees of Common Ground and Street Squash.  He is one of the original benefactors of Prep for Prep and Summer on the Hill at Horace Mann, and is a long-time supporter of the Police Athletic League and the Fresh Air Fund.

Mr. Brickman began his career as an attorney.  He is a 1970 graduate of the Horace Mann School, a 1974 graduate of Middlebury College and a 1977 graduate of Fordham Law School.  He is married and the father of four children.

Gary Miller

Gary’s life in education was formed by his parents, Gordon “Moose ” Miller and Janet Miller, who both had long careers at the Horace Mann School. Upon Gary’s graduation from Horace Mann, and after completing his Masters at the University of Bridgeport, he taught in the Wilton, CT school system as a Physical Education Instructor and coach for six years. He subsequently moved to Horace Mann, where he spent nearly thirty years as Director of Admission, coach, Dean of Students, and teacher of health courses. Gary has spent a lifetime of summers in New Hampshire, directing his family-owned girl’s camp, Camp Merriwood. Luckily, he continues this tradition each year, now with fourth generation Millers as camp directors.

Gary has volunteered in numerous organizations in his hometown of Greenwich, CT.  He lives there with his wife. His three children, their spouses, and four grandchildren live nearby.

Richard Barasch

Richard Barasch is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal American Corp., a publicly traded company that offers a broad array of health insurance and managed care products and services, primarily to the growing senior population.

Richard is chairman of The Friends of the Bronx Leadership Academy, a member of the Board of Managers of Swarthmore College, and a director of The Center For Arts Education and of Summer on the Hill at Horace Mann.

A native New Yorker, Richard is a graduate of Swarthmore College (1976) and Columbia University Law School (1979), where he was a member of the Law Review. He lives with his wife Renée and their three children in New York City.

Walter Harris
President, Tanenbaum-Harber Co., Inc.

Walter L. Harris is President and Chief Executive Officer of Tanenbaum-Harber Co. Holdings, Inc., a leading New York insurance brokerage firm specializing in commercial property/casualty insurance and employee benefits. Mr. Harris’ other business interests include an excess and surplus lines brokerage firm, a reinsurance intermediary and a brokerage firm that specializes in entertainment insurance.  He also acts as an advisor to investors in insurance entities and has a particular expertise in alternative risk financing, including captive insurance companies.  In addition, Mr. Harris has acted as special counsel in several major insurance coverage litigations.

A past President of the Insurance Brokers Association of New York, Walter is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Loews Corporation and of American Progressive Life & Health Insurance Company of New York. He previously served on the Boards of CNA Financial Corporation and Universal American Financial Corp. Walter’s civic and non-profit activities include serving as a trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the Citizens Budget Commission, and serving on the Board of the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, as well as Summer on the Hill.

A graduate of the Horace Mann School, Walter received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and JD from the University of California at Berkeley.  He received an LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law.

Robin Ingram
Head of Middle Division,

Robin Ingram is Head of the Middle Division and a science teacher at Horace Mann School.  Robin joined Horace Mann in 1999 and served as Middle Division Science Department Chair from 2002 -2004, becoming Division Head in 2004.  Prior to Horace Mann, Robin held administrative positions in several Philadelphia private schools.  Robin taught in the Summer on the Hill Saturday program for seven years and has been a member of the Board since its creation.  Robin is a graduate of Cedar Crest College and Temple University.  Robin and her husband David have seven children.

Lewis Jones

5 Stone Green Capital

Lewis P. Jones is Managing Principal of 5 Stone Green Capital, LLC. Prior to establishing 5 Stone Green Capital, Mr. Jones worked at JPMorgan for 22 years in areas primarily related to real estate equity investing and lending, serving as a portfolio manager in JPMorgan Global Real Assets and as President of the JPMorgan Chase Community Development Corporation. He has also served as President of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. In addition to Summer on the Hill, he serves on the boards of Mount Sinai Medical Center, the Harlem Center for Education, and the Housing Partnership Development Corporation. Mr. Jones is a graduate of the Horace Mann School and a former Trustee. He holds an A.B. from Harvard College, and JD and MBA degrees from Columbia University.

Andrew Levander, Esq.
Dechert L.L.P.

Andrew J. Levander, Esq., Chairman-Elect at Dechert LLP, represents parties in securities fraud and commercial litigation and criminal and government investigations. Mr. Levander has tried to verdict more than 40 cases as well as numerous arbitrations. Drawing on his experience as a law clerk to the Honorable Wilfred Feinberg in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and as an Assistant to the Solicitor General, he also has an extensive appellate practice in both federal and state courts. He has litigated in courts across the country and has arbitrated before the American Arbitration Association, the New York Stock Exchange, the National Association of Securities Dealers, UNCITRAL, and private arbitrators. Mr. Levander also has extensive international litigation experience, and served as Associate Independent Counsel in the Michael Deaver investigation. Andy is also a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York in the Securities and Commodities Fraud Unit.

Andy has written extensively on legal issues, and co-authored Prevention and Prosecution of High Technology Crime, published by Matthew Bender and Settlement Agreements in Commercial Disputes, published by Aspen Law & Business. He has served as an adjunct professor of trial practice at New York University, and has lectured at Columbia University Law School, Georgetown University Law Center, the ABA White Collar Crime Institute, SIFMA, the Practising Law Institute, and various bar associations and government agencies. He is a former chair of the American Bar Association’s Committee on Securities Litigation Professional Issues Subcommittee.
A summa cum laude graduate of Tufts University, Andy received his JD from Columbia Law School, where he was Kent Scholar, Notes and Comments Editor of the Columbia Law Review.

Edward Levy
President, Rand Logistics

Ed Levy has been President of Rand Logistics Inc. since 2006. From 2004 until 2006, Ed acted as a special advisor to Rand and as such, played an integral role in significant acquisitions by the company. From 1995 – 2004, Ed was a managing director of CIBC World Markets Corp., and from 2001 – 2004, he was also co-head of CIBC World Markets Corp.’s Leveraged Finance Group, which had approximately $600 million under management. Prior to joining CIBC, Ed was a managing director of Argosy Group L.P., a private investment banking firm. Ed received a B.A. from Connecticut College.

Bill Lukashok
Director, Prana Investments

Bill Lukashok is Director of Capital Markets at Prana Investments, a San Francisco-based real estate investment firm. Bill also serves on a number of boards and has a longstanding interest in New York City education issues. A 1975 graduate of Horace Mann, Bill obtained his BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979 and an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University in 1982. Bill’s father is a member of Horace Mann’s graduating class of 1943, and both of Bill’s sons attended Horace Mann.

Jonathan Meltzer
Managing Director, Goldman Sachs

Jon Meltzer became a Managing Director of Goldman Sachs in 2004. A graduate of the Horace Mann School, Jon holds a BA (1987) from The Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA (1991) from NYU Stern School of Business.

Jon is a Board member of Charley’s Fund and Summer on the Hill.
